There seemed to be quite a few herons living along this particular bit of water, and I was lucky enough to get some snaps.

I am gutted that I missed the full beak off one of the images because that would have been a photo to be proud of!

Not our resident squirrel, Stevie, but a newbie and a youngling! It was so hard not to laugh out loud taking these and watching him run around to bury all the peanuts 🤣

Not every wildlife photography trip delivers the w Not every wildlife photography trip delivers the wildlife… and tonight was definitely one of those nights!

I pretty much struck out on the animals, but there was still some lovely scenery to enjoy and, as the light disappeared, I managed to grab a few shots of the moon too.

I’m quickly learning that wildlife photography involves a lot of patience, a fair bit of wandering around looking suspiciously into fields… and accepting that sometimes the wildlife simply doesn’t get the memo. 😂

One thing tonight did make clear though: I think my Tuesday night adventures need to start venturing a little further afield. I’ve got a two-hour window each week, so it might be time to explore some quieter corners of West Cumbria and see what I can find.

The search for foxes, deer, hares and anything else willing to appear in front of my lens continues… 🦊🦌

Where should Tuesday night take me next?

Are you even an event photographer if you don't sn Are you even an event photographer if you don't sneak in some dogs!!

The real stars of the Colour Fun Run!

As much as we loved capturing the runners, it was the dogs who stole the show at Oak Tree Animal Charity's 5k Colour Fun Run. Paws dyed every colour, tails going nine to the dozen, and not a single one bothered by the chaos around them.

Recognise your pup? Give the post a like, tag their humans, and share it with anyone else whose dog was strutting their stuff on the day.

Carlisle Racecourse was a riot of colour this morning, and it was brilliant to be there to capture it. Runners, walkers, kids, dogs, and a whole lot of powder paint — all for a fantastic cause!

A huge well done to everyone who took part and huge thanks to @oaktreeanimalscharity for putting on such a great event. Every entry and every splash of colour helps support the animals in their care.

Have a scroll through the gallery — if you spot yourself, your kids, or your running crew, give the post a like, tag them so they can find their photo, and share it with anyone else who ran on the day.

Annan Harbour Festival ⚓️ What a day. Sunshine (a Annan Harbour Festival ⚓️

What a day. Sunshine (and a bit of a sea breeze!), crowds, and a harbour full of people!

I was on duty with @cubbyconstruction today. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat about the works being carried out at the harbour. The questions, the enthusiasm and the genuine interest in what's coming meant a lot, and it was brilliant to talk it through with so many of you face to face.

Have a scroll through the photos and if you spot yourself, your kids or someone you know, give the post a like, tag them so they can find their photo, and share it on with anyone who was there.

More from the day to come 📸

Exploring West Cumbria is entirely new to me in te Exploring West Cumbria is entirely new to me in terms of wildlife photography. A quick Google led me to Longland Lake.

With no experience of the area, I gravitated to the water... And stumbled upon a swan and some very brave ducks!!

I kept my distance, utilising a picnic bench to stabilise my 600mm lens and enjoyed the seclusion and quiet whilst I watched and snapped.

I was briefly joined by a family who came to feed the ducks; and I managed to capture some of the madness that followed!

Wildlife Wednesday 💙 Wildlife photography has tau Wildlife Wednesday 💙

Wildlife photography has taught me patience, attention to detail and how to find strong images in situations I can’t control.

Those skills don’t disappear when I step onto a construction site or into an event. They’re part of how I work behind the camera.

Because sometimes the best photographs aren’t staged. They’re spotted.

Scenic Sunday. A few throwback images from my rec Scenic Sunday.

A few throwback images from my recent trip to Scotland. Having spent a long time capturing wildlife, it was nice to practice my landscape photography.

Wildlife and landscapes have taught me not to settle for the first frame. I’ll wait, move, adjust and keep looking until I find the image that works.

That same approach comes with me on every shoot. Looking for photography with a little patience behind the lens? Get in touch.

📸 The wagtail is a small and energetic little bird 📸 The wagtail is a small and energetic little bird that spends much of its time dashing around after insects, all while constantly bobbing that distinctive tail.

They might be a familiar sight, but through a long lens there’s a lot more character to appreciate.

Getting one to stay still long enough for a sharp photo, however… that’s another matter. 😂🐦

A year can change a lot. This time last year, I w A year can change a lot.

This time last year, I was working with someone who left me questioning my abilities and knocked my confidence more than I realised at the time.

Fast forward twelve months, and I can now say that one of my photographs has been officially published.

It might be one photograph, but to me it represents something much bigger. It’s a reminder that someone else’s opinion of your abilities doesn’t define them, and that confidence can be rebuilt by simply continuing to do the work, learn and put yourself out there.

I’m still learning, still developing my photography and still finding my feet, but I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come in a year.

Sometimes progress looks like a published photograph. Sometimes it’s simply believing in yourself again.

Wildlife Wednesday 🐿️🪶 A little midweek wildlife Wildlife Wednesday 🐿️🪶

A little midweek wildlife fix, featuring a few familiar faces from behind the lens!

This week’s line-up includes a squirrel looking suspiciously innocent, a seagull doing what seagulls do best, a rather handsome pheasant and a swallow that actually stayed still long enough for me to photograph it.

One of the things I love most about wildlife photography is that you don’t always have to travel far to find something worth capturing. Sometimes the best subjects are the ones living right alongside us.

📸 Which of these four photos is your favourite: squirrel, seagull, pheasant or swallow?

🌿 And what’s the best bit of wildlife you’ve ever spotted in your own garden? Bonus points for anything particularly unexpected!

I finally managed to capture a song thrush for the I finally managed to capture a song thrush for the first time!

Admittedly, these aren’t going to be winning any photography awards. They were taken through the window, so they’re a little softer than I’d like, but sometimes getting the photograph is more about documenting the moment.

Such a beautiful bird. I was very happy to see this one appear outside, and even happier that I had my camera nearby.

Hopefully next time it visits, I’ll be on the right side of the glass!

Have you had any unexpected visitors to your garden recently?
